According to reports in The Guardian this week, Channel 4 are narrowing in on an appointment of Sales Director for their £1bn a-year TV and Online advertising sales business. The shortlist is thought to include Julia Jordan and Omincom veteran John Overend.
Channel 4 chief executive, David Abraham, is understood to have a short list which includes major names from a range of backgrounds including senior digital agency and newspaper executives. This strategy is thought to come from an idea to look outside of the typical sales director found in other major broadcasters.
Andy Barnes stepped down after nearly 20 years at Channel 4 in March and possible replacement look to include head of digital sales Errol Baran, and Mike Parker, head of strategic sales. Further possibilities could include Yahoo UK's managing director of sales James Wildman and two OMD employees, UK chief executive Steve Williams and managing director Jonathan Allan.
