The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) has partnered with Applegate Marketplace to offer guidance to CIPS members on themes and key developments in business and to support in the selection of important suppliers.
As supply chains become more global and complex, procurement and supply chain professionals need access to timely, key data and insight.
Applegate, which currently promotes 16 million products and services on behalf of its clients, will be able to offer further a range of tools and added value services to the CIPS professionals through the partnership. This includes business information, contact information, price lists, stock volumes, plus the ability to place quotes (RFQS) with businesses and to seamlessly raise orders through the system.
Over the last 20 years, Applegate has become the top destination for engineering buyers to source the tools, components and services they need. The Applegate website is designed to give fast access to the UK Business to Business Marketplace, hosting over 400,000 suppliers and many millions of products and services online.
David Noble, Group CEO, CIPS, said, “We all work in an incredibly fast-paced environment so access to relevant data is important, and even crucial. So much more is required of our professionals than a decade ago. We cannot all be instant experts in all sectors and with all skillsets but a global business environment expects much more of us. Having trustworthy support and access to a range of high-quality resources helps to keep our professionals current, up-to-date and authoritative is one of the most important aspects an institute can offer its members.
“I’m delighted that Applegate Marketplace has become the latest respected knowledge partner and we look forward to developing these knowledge areas further.”
Stuart Brocklehurst, Chief Executive of Applegate, said: “For twenty years Applegate has provided procurement professionals with the information and tools they require in their roles. This partnership with CIPS represents a natural extension of our work. In addition to providing the business marketplace, Applegate is in the process of developing significant new services to help make the lives of purchasing staff easier.
“We are delighted to be partnering with the Institute and look forward to working together in future.”

To continually develop marketplace information, CIPS members can be among the first to trial a new eProcurement Suite early in 2016; a powerful set of Buying Tools that interface directly with our marketplace information.
