The Sales Profession celebrated the talents that exist within businesses up and down the country at BESMA this year. The gala dinner and awards ceremony, hosted by BBC Breakfast’s Bill Turnbull, was a resounding success and the perfect backdrop to celebrate the vast array of talented individuals that work in sales.

Organised by the ISMM (Institute of Sales & Marketing Management), the largest association for the sales profession, the evening featured some of the biggest brands on the planet, battling against each other to establish who really does have the best sales talent. Organisations such as Microsoft, Virgin, Axa, David Lloyd, Eon, DHL and many others put on show the best of the country’s sales professionals.

The awards were split among a number of different business but without a doubt Axa Insurance will have been happy with their return winning three BESMA’s and Runner-up in another category. The flagship awards again went to different businesses in different sectors, showcasing the conept of excellence ion sales across verticals;

Sales Director of the Year – Andy Gray, Ecolab Ltd
Sales Manager of the Year – Mark Pollard, Axa Business Insurance
Sales Professional of the Year – Siobhan Rowland, LV=
Sales Professional of the Year – Liam McDowell, MagenTys

A particular mention should also go to some of the smaller businesses that not only competed but also beat the larger more established brands. Liam McDowell from MagenTys took home a Sales Professional of the Year award and Chris Skinner from Intelligent Data Services won the new Key Account Manager of the Year category.

Other key awards went to Axa Commercial and SIG Sales Academy for their Sales Development Programmes, while Sales Trainer of the year went to Mike Lever from New Results Training and Steve Eungblut from Sterling Chase.

All in all the ISMM can be proud of the evening, as can the individuals and businesses that competed and won these awards. The
ISMM Events Director Jennie Harnaman commented that this year more nominations were received than any other, with the competition getting stiffer and more considerable.
