Virgin Holidays has revealed details of a "wide-ranging" review of its sales, trade and retail divisions. The operator has made a number of staff changes and is also looking to develop closer ties between its own retail network and local agents, according to Travel Weekly.

Lee Haslett, previously head of retail, has been promoted to director of sales trading. Reporting to customer and sales director Mark Anderson, he will be responsible for trading across the company's sales centres, trade and retail channels and "maximising synergies" between them.

Head of trade sales Sarah Barton will support Haslett in developing Virgin's trade distribution strategy along with two trade sales executives. Mark Burns, head of sales operations, has left the business and Sarah Curtis, sales operations manager, is due to leave at the end of the month.

The company said the restructure would "ensure that we are in the best position to continue to drive sales growth and deliver operational excellence with irresistible service".

A spokesman said: "We believe this restructure will provide us with an enhanced and more comprehensive resource with which to support our valued trade partners, ensuring that we are in stronger shape to quickly harness opportunities with them."

He said the team was working on how to strengthen ties between its own retail shops and local agents. "We are also reviewing how our retail network can better support local agents and develop closer partnerships, particularly with communication, campaign support and training."
