From Millennium Dome to one of the most popular venues in the world, the rise of the O2 has been nothing short of spectacular, with a variety of events from Britney Spears and Beyonce, to well known comedians and sporting events such as the Tennis and Basketball.
The O2 Arena now, has retained the top spot despite the cancellation of the Michael Jackson cancellation last year, and is still ahead of prestigious venues like Madison Square Garden and the Manchester Evening News Arena.
The Arena, ran by the AEG Group sold 2,349,252 tickets in 2009 according to Pollstar, and will be looking forward to an equally competitive 2010 with acts such as Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart and Whitney Houston.
“We are booked to capacity at the peak times of the year; I could sell every night in December three times over.” said AEG Chief Executive David Campbell. |
