Sales professionals who are struggling to cope with the effect of the Internet were today given a further reminder of the growing importance of this channel. The Internet Advertising Bureau, the trade body for digital marketing, revealed figures for online ad spend in 2008, which showed:
- online ad spend up by 17% to £3.3 billion
- online market share increased by 19.2%
- the Internet was the only marketing medium to experience growth in 2008
The UK is now the world’s most advanced market for internet advertising with £1 in every £5 of media budgets spent online. These figures should truly bring home to the UK’s sales professionals the fact that the Internet is fast becoming the place to market and sell to businesses and consumers.
